We consistently implement our motto in our product and recycling concepts. The recycling goals are clearly defined: reduce plastic waste, save resources and energy, and reuse materials wherever technically possible.
From old to new—for this purpose the used filter cartridges are separated into their components in several steps. For this reason, BWT has developed the world's most modern recycling plant.: Here, all reusable materials are largely separated according to type and free of contamination, so that they can then be returned to the material cycle.
For a typical filter cartridge, up to 99% of the material is recycled. The percentage of each material varies from filter size to filter size. A typical filter cartridge contains 61% ion exchange resin, 38% polypropylene and only 1% waste.
The used resin is regenerated and reused in new cartridges. The regenerated resin is added in different proportions depending on the type of filter cartridge.
The filter cartridges newly produced with new and partly with regenerated ion exchange resin meet the quality standards and specifications of BWT water+more to 100%.
The polypropylene is handed over to an external recycler and processed into various products. The remaining materials are disposed of as residual waste.
