2024 SCA Board of Directors Elections
The SCA Board of Directors consists of 15 volunteer members, supported by the CEO and SCA staff, according to the Amended and Restated Bylaws of SCA that have been approved by the membership. The board supports the work of the SCA and provides mission-based leadership and strategic governance, in partnership with the SCA’s Chief Executive Officer.
Every year, a number of seats open up for nominations and members of the community are elected to serve a three-year term. Learn more about the latest election cycle below.
The Specialty Coffee Association is now accepting nominations for the 2025-2027 SCA Board of Directors. Nominations close on Monday, July 15, and interviews with the Nominating Committee will take place in late July/early August. The SCA will announce the slate of candidates selected through the interview process by Friday, August 30.

Nominations by Petition
Applicants not selected through the nominations and interview process may choose to collect at least 100 signatures from SCA professional members or the primary contact for a company member in good standing in order to be added to the final ballot by petition. Frequently Asked Questions
What is the process to become a candidate by petition?
Per SCA Bylaws, all SCA members have the right to seek nomination to the ballot by petition. To be added to the ballot, petition candidates must collect signatures from a minimum of 100 SCA voting members. The petition candidacy process opens on September 1st. At this point, SCA voting members who wish to run in this election as petition candidates may submit the required information.
In order for a qualified petition candidacy, it will be required to collect a minimum of 100 signatures from other voting members, by September 30.
Please note that data privacy laws prohibit the SCA from sharing member data, which means we cannot share SCA member contact information. Candidates are encouraged to run their campaigns via their professional network to collect signatures. All petition nominees who qualify under the Bylaws and receive the required number of 100 signatures by the deadline, will be added to the ballot.
How does one support a petition candidate?
When the petition candidacy period opens on September 1st, SCA members who seek to join the ballot via petition candidacy will have the option to fill out a form and be added to our election portal to gather signatures.

Who is eligible to Vote?
According to Section 7.4 (e) of Voting Bylaws, “Eligible voters” shall mean SCA members who hold a current valid SCA Professional or are the primary contact for a company membership as of September 1 of the voting year.
